A healthy DIY Recipe for the lingering cough. All you need is an onion, sugar, and a mason jar!

This old folk remedy is effective and has been around for several generations. Your grandparents might remember. Maybe you remember. Here's the recipe in case you happen to forget.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Large yellow (or red) onion peeled

  • 4-5 heaping tablespoons of white granulated sugar

  • Glass Jar

Preparation:

Peel the onion.

Cut into large slices.

In the jar, alternate layers of sugar and onion, making sure the onion pieces are coated.

Cover loosely.

Wait until the juice from the onion starts gathering at the bottom.

(This usually happens within a few hours.)

Administer one teaspoon per hour as needed for cough. It is safe for children, but, as always, check with your healthcare practitioner.

The flavor is sweet, and the remedy is effective.

Keep refrigerated and only use fresh (discard after 24 hours).

Make and take as needed.

Onion is a natural expectorant and clears lung issues due to respiratory illnesses. It is a long-time natural cold remedy. Onions have additional advantages, including vitamin C and phytochemicals that increase absorption effectiveness.
